In July, the Korean National Wheelchair Basketball Team will compete against Great Britain, Mexico, and Argentina at the 2014 IWBF Men’s World Championship in Incheon.

The draw was held at 3:00p.m. on March 21. As the host country, Korea enjoyed the privilege of choosing the Group it wanted to play in. After first three teams for each Group were determined, Korea selected Group A to play against less competitive teams from South America.

Participated by IWBF President Maureen Orchard, the 2014 Incheon World Wheelchair Basketball Championship Organizing Committee Chairman Kim Jangsil(Saenuri Party lawmaker), Chair Sponsor and JoongAng Daily Chairman Hong Seokhyun, former Korean ambassador to the United Nations and the Ambassador of the Organizing Committee International Advisory Suh Daewon, and the Organizing Committee Executive Director Byun Hyocheol, the draw took place 100 days before the event.

Under the slogan of ‘Hope, Passion, and Challenge,’ the World Championship will take place from July 3-15 in Samsan World Gymnasium, Incheon.

Participant countries include the host country Korea, 7 European countries(Great Britain, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Turkey), 4 American countries(the U.S., Mexico, Argentina, Colombia), 3 Asian or Oceanian countries(Australia, Iran, Japan), and 1 African country(Algeria). The top three players from each group will compete for semi-final spots to move on to the final round.

The Championship is to be the largest ever in its history, with more than 500 players and officials from 16 countries. During the event, representatives from 91 member countries will meet at the IWBF World Congress.
